Hurrah! I made it through last night’s fit camp. After worrying how it would be after a week’s absence it actually wasn’t too bad. Last night we had our first spell of bad weather, therefore completing the camp in the rain changed how the sessions are usually run.
We started with off with a slow jogging warm up around the park, moving into high kicks, kicks to the butt and running backwards, then we were each given a number so when it was called we had to run into the middle, touch the centre cone and then sprint to catch the rest of the group whilst they were running (they were will still jogging mildly, thankfully).
Once the warm up was completed we then moved onto stretches and then squats to jumps. Once that was finished, we moved onto mountain climbers then onto some leg and ab work, which was really good. I really like the sessions where the exercises are a bit more controlled, as you can really feel burn but because you haven’t been rushing through many circuits you have the energy to really get involved with the exercises, and boy do my thighs and ab burn today.
We finished the session with some leg pulses which by the final set made my thighs really burn, but in a good way. Also the pulses were great for really getting your abs and core to help you balance. The leg pulses are a good and easy exercise to do at home, as if you are like me, living in a old converted house jumping around etc would upset the neighbours, so this controlled exercise is perfect.
Today I intend on completing another 5k lunchtime run. Not sure if I will be completing the run in 27 minutes again today as my thighs are quite stiff and in my unfit state I feel quite tired, but I will certainly give it my best shot.
